The webinar, the second of the 2018 ICOM ICEE Webinar Series, will feature Gail Lord, President and Co-Founder of Lord Cultural Resources, and co-author of Cities, Museums and Soft Power. During the webinar Gail will: 1-Explain on how museums today are transitioning from a hard power past to a soft power future, 2- Define terms like hard power, cultural diplomacy and soft power in the context of museum planning and programming, and 3- Demonstrate, through the use of relevant examples, how museums around the world are utilizing their soft power to influence opinion leaders and improve communities.

As part of the ICOM ICEE webinar series, we are encouraging ICOM institutional members, other museums and similar institutions to host local Webinar Watch Events. A Watch Event is an opportunity for a host institution to invite colleagues, staff, and local colleagues to network, watch the live webinar together, and engage in post-webinar discussion about the topic. There are few requirements for the host, other than to register for the program, set up a room and equipment, invite colleagues, and facilitate discussion. The ICEE team has prepared the attached guidelines to help museums to host a successful onsite and online experience.
